Hiring Manager: I grow tired of this applicant we interviewed two weeks ago. He is calling and asking us questions about when we will make our choice. Will he not learn? I think we should continue ignoring him and not even tell him if he was not picked. That would be expected. People do not want to hear from us right? So we will not even respond. Boy we are gonna save millions by not bothering to respond to applicants as well as the ones we actually interview.

Everyone else in the room: Excellent idea sir! We will be RICH!

And the letter reads:

Letter: Dear XXXXXXXX:

I enjoyed meeting with you during my recent visit to XXXXX University. I was impressed with your personal and professional qualifications.

Unfortunately, due to the staffing requirements, we can employ only a limited number of the many candidates interested in our firm. Even though we are unable to offer you an internship position, we are impressed with your qualifications. I would like to keep in touch as you continue your education to further discuss full-time career opportunities at Ernst & Young.

Please accept my thanks for participating in the interview. Good luck during the rest of the semester. I look forward to seeing you again in the near future.

Sincerely,

XXXXXXXXX
