And the letter reads:

(EDITTED)

First, I want to thank you for your interest in our graduate program in Southwest Missouri State. Nonetheless, I must tell you that we will not be able to offer you admission to the program at this time. We had several more applicant than we had available openings. Based on a collective ranking process, your application was ranked below others who were offered admission. It was our collective opinion that you would not be a good fit for our program and its approach to working with clients as a counselor at this time.

You are welcome to reapply to the program in the future. Out next application deadline is October 1, 2003. If you wish to be reconsidered, please let us know soon, and we will hold your application. You may add, remove, or replace any application materials that you wish to between now and the next deadline.

I know this has been a long and probably anxious process for you, and that this outcome is a disappointment for you. I do hope that you find a path that is a match for you, and wish you all the success with that next part of your journey. Again, our thanks for your interest and participation in the admissions process.

Sincerely,
Southwest Missouri State
