Employer: Here is a nice qualified applicant. Wow, this is the one. Oh wait, the application states he is 45 miles away...but it does say he will relocate at his own expense. Hrm, oh well, it is not worth the hassle calling him to see if he really meant that.

*Files resume and application in the trash for safe keeping.*

Lets hire this applicant. Even though he is not very qualified, he is already nearby and thats really most important. Who wants the most qualified applicant, we want the quick fix.

And the letter reads:

November 25, 2003

Dear Ms. XXXXXXX:

This is an exciting time for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA), as we are relocating our headquarters from Minneapolis, Minnesota to Charlotte, North Carolina.

We continue to receive Applications for Employment and resumes from individuals expressing interest in consideration for employment in a variety of potential occupational and professional areas. We are very pleased with the interest you have expressed in BGEA and our continuation of this evangelistic ministry from the Charlotte area.

Thank you for providing information regarding your employment interest and background. Your information will be reviewed and evaluated to determine its applicability to the requirements of current position opportunities. Should an initial introductory contact be determined necessary, we will attempt to do so in the near future.

Again, we are grateful for your interest in BGEA, and ask that you pray daily for its evangelistic outreach.

May God bless you,

Human Resources Department
Billy Graham Evangelistic Association
